An Act to provide for a Reserve for Educational Purposes within the Borough of Waimate, and the Erection of School-buildings at Waimate and Temuka.
Preamble.
WHEREAS it is expedient to set aside a reserve for educational purposes within the Borough of Waimate, and to provide for the erection of school-buildings at Waimate and Temuka:
Be it therefore enacted by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—
1 Short Title.
The Short Title of this Act is “The Waimate and Temuka Public Schools Sites Act, 1881.”
2 Land in First Schedule to vest in South Canterbury Education Board.
The land described in the First Schedule hereto shall be and the same is hereby vested in the Board of Education of the Education District of South Canterbury (hereinafter called “the Board”
), and it shall be lawful for the Governor, on the passing of this Act, to issue to the Board a Crown grant for the same.
3 Board to have power to sell lands described in Second and Third Schedules.
Proviso.
It shall be lawful for the Board, when and so soon as may appear expedient so to do, to sell and dispose of the several parcels of land described in the Second and Third Schedules hereto, and now vested in the Board for educational purposes: Provided always that the proceeds arising from such sale shall be applied in the following manner, namely: the proceeds of the sale of the land described in the Second Schedule of this Act shall be applied in or towards the erection of school-buildings on the land described in the First Schedule to this Act; and the proceeds of the sale of the land described in the Third Schedule to this Act shall be applied in or towards the erection of school-buildings on the land described in the Fourth Schedule to this Act.
SCHEDULES
FIRST SCHEDULE
All that piece or parcel of land, containing an area of 5 acres, more or less, situated in the Survey District of Waimate, Provincial District of Canterbury, being portion of Reserve No. 145, commencing at a point in line with the eastern boundary of John Street, in the Borough of Waimate, and 200 links distant from the south-eastern extremity of said street; thence in continuation of the said line a distance of 1000 links; thence at a right angle, easterly, a distance of 500 links; thence at a right angle, northerly, a distance of 1000 links; and thence returning at a right angle, westerly, a distance of 500 links to the starting point.
SECOND SCHEDULE
All that piece or parcel of land situate in the Town of Waimate, containing 1 acre and 3 roods, more or less, being Town Sections Nos. 94, 95, 96, 97, 98, 99, and 100, comprised in a grant to the Superintendent of Canterbury under “The Public Reserves Act, 1854,”
No. 390.
Also all that piece or parcel of land situate in the Town of Waimate, containing 3 roods and 19 perches, more or less, being Town Sections Nos. 101, 102, and 117, comprised in a grant to the Superintendent of Canterbury under “The Public Reserves Act, 1854,”
No. 780.
Also all that piece or parcel of land situate in the Town of Waimate, containing 2 roods, more or less, being Town Sections Nos. 92 and 93, comprised in a grant to the Superintendent of Canterbury under “The Public Reserves Act, 1854,”
No. 1645.
THIRD SCHEDULE
All that piece or parcel of land in the Township of Arowhenua, Timaru District, in the County of Geraldine, containing 1 acre and 39 perches, being Reserve 347 (in red). Bounded on the East by Wilkin Street, and taking a frontage thereon of 490 links; on the South by High Street, taking a frontage thereon of 240 links; on the West, a distance of 500 links, by Sections 177, 179, 181, 183, and 185 of the said township; and on the North, a distance of 250 links, by Section 176 of the said township.
FOURTH SCHEDULE
All that piece or parcel of land in the Township of Arowhenua, Timaru District, in the County of Geraldine, containing 2 acres 3 roods 38 perches, being Reserve 1819, and Sections 188, 190, and 192 of the said township. Bounded on the East by Rayner Street, taking a frontage thereon of 590 links; on the South by High Street, taking a frontage thereon of 480 links; on the West by Wilkin Street, taking a frontage thereon of 590 links; and on the North by Sections 199 and 200, a distance of 500 links.
