An Act to authorise the Governor to appoint a Member of the Board of the Hospital District of Picton to represent the Sounds County thereon.
Preamble.
WHEREAS the Sounds County is excepted from the operation of “The Counties Act, 1886,”
and no County Council exists therein, nor any other local authority capable of electing a member of the Board of the Picton Hospital District, wherein the said county is included: And whereas the inhabitants of the said county have, through the Property-tax Commissioner, in terms of “The. Hospitals and Charitable Institutions Act 1885 Amendment Act, 1886,”
paid rates to the aforesaid Board towards the hospital and charitable aid fund of the district, and it is just that it should be represented thereon:
Be it therefore enacted by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—
1 Short Title.
The Short Title of this Act is “The Sounds County Hospital Representation Act, 1887.”
2 Governor to appoint annually member for Sounds County on Picton Hospital District Board.
The Governor at any time within sixty days after the passing of this Act, and thereafter in every year within fourteen days before the first Wednesday in December, shall appoint such person as he thinks fit to be a member of the Board of the Picton Hospital District as representative thereon of the Sounds County.
Every person so appointed shall come into office on his appointment, and shall continue in office until the coming into office of his successor, to be appointed by the Governor as aforesaid.
