An Act to enable the Governor to grant Warrants for Certificates of Title in certain Cases.
Preamble.
WHEREAS certain Natives became entitled, by gift from the Crown, to the pieces of land hereinafter particularly described, which they afterwards sold to the persons hereinafter in that behalf respectively mentioned for a price which has been paid, and no Grown grant or other title has yet issued in respect of such land: And whereas it is just and expedient that certificates of title should be issued in respect thereof:
Be it therefore enacted by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—
1 Short Title.
The Short Title of this Act is “The Certificates of Title Issue Empowering Act, 1889.”
2 Warrants for certificates of title may be granted to Messrs. Wall and Walker.
For the purpose of vesting in fee-simple the pieces of land hereinafter described in the several persons respectively hereinafter mentioned, the Governor may grant warrants, under “The Land Transfer Act, 1885,”
for the issue of certificates of title to the said land, in the names of the following, that is to say,—
(a.)
To Francis Wall: A warrant for the issue of a certificate of title to all that piece of land containing forty-five acres two roods, or thereabouts, comprising parts of sections numbers fifty-six and fifty-seven, on the right bank of the Wanganui River, block three, in the Westmere Survey District. Bounded towards the north by a small stream; towards the east, one thousand three hundred and eighty-seven links, by section number fifty-five; towards the south, three thousand one hundred and fifty-six links, by section number two hundred and forty-nine, and by other parts of sections numbers fifty-six and fifty-seven; and towards the west by the Pohueroa Stream. Also to all that piece of land containing forty-two acres, or thereabouts, being section number two hundred and forty-nine, on the right bank of the Wanganui River, block three, in the Westmere Survey District, subject, as to the said first-mentioned parcel of land, to the condition that the said Francis Wall shall, before the issue of such certificate, pay the sum of fifty pounds to the Public Account. The said several parcels of land shall be vested in the said Francis Wall on and from the tenth day of August, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-seven.
(b.)
To George Walker: A warrant for the issue of a certificate of title to all that piece of land containing twenty-one acres two roods thirty-five perches, or thereabouts, being section number two hundred and forty-eight, on the right bank of the Wanganui River, block three, in the Westmere Survey District; and the said piece of land shall be vested in the said George Walker on and from the first day of November, one thousand eight hundred and sixty-three.
