An Act to authorise the Governors of the Otago Boys’ and Girls’ High Schools to transfer, for the purpose of a Cemetery, a certain Portion of the Endowment Lands vested in them.

Preamble.

WHEREAS the land described in the Schedule hereto forms part of the secondary education reserves which, under the provisions of section seventeen of “The Otago Boys’ and Girls’ High Schools Act, 1877,” were vested in the Board of Governors constituted under the aforesaid Act as endowment lands for the maintenance of the schools under their control: And whereas the Governors aforesaid are willing to set apart the first-mentioned land and to vest the same in Trustees for the purposes of a general cemetery, but there is no authority at law to enable them in that behalf:

Be it therefore enacted by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

1 Short Title.

The Short Title of this Act is “The Mokoreta Cemetery Reserve Act, 1893.”

2 Land in Schedule dedicated for cemetery.

The land described in the Schedule hereto shall, as from the commencement of this Act, cease to be vested in the Board of Governors constituted under “The Otago Boys’ and Girls’ High Schools Act, 1877,” and is hereby set apart as a cemetery reserve under “The Cemeteries Act, 1882”; and the said land shall for cemetery purposes vest in such trustees as shall be appointed from time to time by the Governor under such last-mentioned Act.

Schedule Cemetery Reserve

All that area of land in the Southland Land District, containing by admeasurement 17 acres 2 roods 20 perches, more or less, being Section No. 35, Block IV., Mokoreta Survey District, and bounded towards the north by Section No. 18 of the same block; towards the east by Section No. 23, Block V., of the same survey district; and towards the south-west by a road-line.
