An Act to enable the Council of the City of Wellington to take over certain existing Private Streets and Rights-of-way and to extend Streets.
BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—
1 Short Title
The Short Title of this Act is The Wellington City Streets Act 1899.
2 Existing private streets may be declared public streets
It shall be lawful for the Council of the City of Wellington, in the manner and subject to the conditions mentioned in section two hundred and sixty-five of The Municipal Corporations Act 1886, to declare any now-existing private street or right-of-way laid out in the City of Wellington, and of whatever width, to be a public street of such city, and thereupon such private street or right-of-way shall become a public street accordingly:
Provided that such private street or right-of-way shall have been laid out prior to the date of the coming into force of The Municipal Corporations Act 1886.
