An Act for vesting a Part of the Foreshore of the Hokitika River in the Hokitika Harbour Board.

Preamble.

WHEREAS by “The Hokitika Harbour Board Act, 1876,” and “The Hokitika Harbour Board Endowment Act, 1878,” the foreshore. of the Hokitika River to Wharf Street in Hokitika was vested in the Hokitika Harbour Board: And whereas since that date the Hokitika Harbour Board has constructed protective works along the river-bank from Wharf Street aforesaid to the sea: And whereas the said protective works have caused to be reclaimed certain lands along the foreshore of part of the said river: And whereas the said Board has erected sheds and wharf-accommodation, giving facilities for landing goods and cattle on the said reclaimed land, and wish to give further facilities for landing and shipping goods and cattle: And whereas it is expedient to vest the said land in the said Board:

Be it therefore enacted by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

1 Short Title.

The Short Title of this Act is “The Hokitika Harbour Board Endowment Act 1878 Amendment Act, 1901.”

2 Interpretation.

In this Act “the Board” means the Hokitika Harbour Board as defined by “The Harbours Act, 1878.”

3 Vesting foreshore of the Hokitika River in the Hokitika Harbour Board.

All that parcel of land described in the Schedule hereto, being the foreshore of the Hokitika River, is hereby vested in the Board.

Schedule

All that area in the Land District of Westland, containing by ad measurement 7 acres 2 roods, more or less, bounded by a line commencing at trig tube 2, Wharf Street, Town of Hokitika, and proceeding thence on a bearing of 269° 52′ a distance of 3164 links; thence on a bearing of 284° 20’ a distance of 79 2 links; thence on a bearing of 294° 22′ to high-water mark of the sea; thence south-westerly along high-water mark of the sea to the end of the northern training-wall; thence generally north-easterly along the northern training-wall to a point bearing S 34° 27′ W from trig tube 2, Wharf Street, aforesaid; thence on a bearing of 34° 27′, a distance of 516 links, to trig tube 2, the commencing-point: be the aforesaid linkages a little more or less.
