WHEREAS under and by virtue of the provisions of section twenty of “The City of Auckland Loans Consolidation Act, 1879,” and section nine of “The Auckland City Borrowing Act, 1899,” it is, inter alia, enacted that there shall not be leviable in the “City of Auckland a greater amount for rates in any one year than two shillings in the pound on the annual value of the rateable property in the city”: And whereas the Council of the Borough of the said City of Auckland are desirous of having the ordinary power to levy rates to such amount as may from time to time be rendered necessary by the circumstances and requirements of the said city: And whereas the Legislature has already with that object in view repealed all the words after the word “hereunder,” where the same occurs in section nineteen of “The City of Auckland Additional Loan Act, 1883,” but to completely effect such object it is also necessary to repeal similar words where they appear after the word “hereunder” in the above-mentioned sections nine and twenty:
