An Act to amend the Constitution of the Bluff Harbour Board, and to provide for the Representation of the Boroughs of Gore and Mataura thereon.

BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

1 Short Title.

The Short Title of this Act is “The Bluff Harbour Board Representation Act, 1902.”

This Act shall be deemed to be a special Act within the meaning of “The Harbours Act, 1878,” and shall be read subject to the said Act.

2 Second Schedule of “The Harbours Act, 1878,” amended.

The Second Schedule of “The Harbours Act, 1878,” is hereby amended as follows:—

(1.)

By repealing the word “ten” where the same occurs as the number of members of the Bluff Harbour Board, and by substituting the word “eleven” in lieu thereof;

(2.)

By inserting in the fourth column thereof, after the word “Campbell town,” where the same occurs in the definition of the qualification of members of the Bluff Harbour Board, and by whom elected, the words “one to be elected by the electors of the Boroughs of Gore and Mataura.”

3 Electors.

Every person whose name at the time of any election of a member of the Bluff Harbour Board is on the electors’ roll in force in the respective Boroughs of Gore and Mataura in respect of any freehold or other qualification within the said boroughs shall be entitled to a vote at such election for the borough wherein his name is enrolled.

4 First election.

The first election of a member by the electors of the Boroughs of Gore and Mataura shall be held at the date of the first biennial election held under the provisions of “The Harbours Act, 1878,” after the coming into operation of this Act, in such manner as the Governor in Council shall direct by regulations to be made for that purpose.
