An Act to constitute the Opotiki Hospital District.
BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—
1 Short Title.
(1.)
This Act may be cited as the Opotiki Hospital District Act, 1924.
Commencement.
(2.)
This Act shall commence on the first day of April, nineteen hundred and twenty-five, save that all elections, appointments, Orders in Council, notices, and regulations required for the purpose of bringing this Act into operation on that day may respectively be held, made, given, or issued at any time after the passing of this Act.
2 Opotiki Hospital District constituted.
(1.)
There is hereby constituted a hospital district under the Hospitals and Charitable Institutions Act, 1909, to be called the Opotiki Hospital District, comprising the County of Opotiki.
(2.)
The boundaries of the Bay of Plenty Hospital District are hereby accordingly altered by excluding therefrom the County of Opotiki.
(3.)
Subsection three of section one hundred and twenty-six of the Reserves and other Lands Disposal and Public Bodies Empowering Act, 1917, is hereby consequentially amended in accordance with this section.
3 Opotiki Hospital Board.
(1.)
Subject to the provisions of section nine of the Hospitals and Charitable Institutions Act, 1909, the Opotiki Hospital Board shall consist of such number of representatives of the contributory districts within the Opotiki Hospital District as the Governor-General by Order in Council from time to time determines.
(2.)
The first election of members of the Opotiki Hospital Board shall be held on such day as the Governor-General by Order in Council appoints; and by the same or any subsequent Order in Council the Governor-General shall make all such provisions as are deemed necessary for the purposes of that election.
4 Apportionment of assets and liabilities.
The Governor-General shall, by Order in Council, determine what part of the property, contracts, debts, and liabilities of the Bay of Plenty Hospital Board as at the commencement of this Act shall become the property, contracts, debts, and liabilities respectively of the Opotiki Hospital Board, and such Order in Council shall have effect according to its tenor.
