An Act to empower the Tauranga Borough Council to expend Moneys for the Maintenance and Development of the Tauranga Borough and the District adjacent or near thereto as a Tourist Resort and Watering-place.
BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—
1 Short Title.
This Act may be cited as the Tauranga Borough Council Empowering Act, 1938.
2 Power to spend moneys in developing and advertising scenic and tourist attractions.
(1)
The Tauranga Borough Council may from time to time apply any moneys in its General Account, not exceeding in the aggregate the sum of two hundred and fifty pounds in any one financial year, towards all or any of the following purposes:—
(a)
The provision or doing of anything or things which the said Council may deem necessary or desirable for the maintenance and development of the Borough of Tauranga and the district adjacent or near thereto as a tourist resort and watering-place:
(b)
The advertising of the scenic and other attractions of whatsoever description of the said borough and the district adjacent or near thereto by any means the Council may deem necessary or desirable.
(2)
Nothing herein shall take away, restrict, or modify any power conferred upon the Council by the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933, or any other Act.
