An Act to authorise the Napier Harbour Board to borrow the sum of seven million five hundred thousand dollars for harbour works and other purposes

BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

1 Short Title

This Act may be cited as the Napier Harbour Board Loan and Empowering Act (No. 2) 1968.

2 Interpretation

In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires, “Board” means the Napier Harbour Board.

3 Special Act

This Act shall be deemed to be a special Act within the meaning of the Harbours Act 1950 and the Local Authorities Loans Act 1956.

4 Authority to borrow

It shall be lawful for the Board from time to time, as it may require, to borrow, subject to the Harbours Act 1950 and the Local Authorities Loans Act 1956, a sum or sums of money not exceeding in the aggregate the sum of seven million five hundred thousand dollars. The money hereby authorised to be borrowed is in addition to any money heretofore authorised to be borrowed by the Board under any other Act.

5 Expenditure of money

All money borrowed under this Act shall be applied and expended in the construction and carrying out of the harbour works and for the other purposes specified in the Schedule to this Act.

6 Authority to purchase tug

The Board is hereby authorised to purchase or acquire, maintain, and work the tug specified in the Schedule to this Act.

(a) Extension of Higgins Wharf and incidental dredging and reclamation of approximately twenty acres edged red on M.D. 13110 including roading, drainage, and other services	2,900,000
(b) Dredging new channel and Kirkpatrick Wharf West	250,000
(c) Construction of 1,200 ft extension of the Eastern Breakwater and 700 ft Eastern Breakwater spur and lead in jetty	4,000,000
Construction of 4,900 ft main Western Breakwater spur with five acre approach fill	4,000,000
(d) Provision of new tug	350,000
	$7,500,000
