An Act to amend the Grand Lodge of Freemasons of New Zealand Trustees Act 1903
WHEREAS by the Grand Lodge of Freemasons of New Zealand Trustees Act 1903 provision is made for the vesting in trustees of the Grand Lodge and Craft Lodges therein named and mentioned of the property therein referred to and for matters ancillary thereto and for a register of trustees and for the evidentiary value of an extract from the register; and it is expedient that the provision aforesaid be extended to trustees of certain other Masonic property as well as to trustees of the Grand Lodge and Craft Lodges: And whereas such extension of the provision aforesaid cannot be attained except by legislation:
Be it therefore enacted by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
1 Short Title
This Act may be cited as the Grand Lodge of Freemasons of New Zealand Trustees Amendment Act 1957, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Grand Lodge of Freemasons of New Zealand Trustees Act 1903 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).
2 Principal Act extended
The principal Act shall apply to any Masonic fund, institution, association, or organisation which is approved for the purposes of this Act by a resolution passed by a general communication of Grand Lodge upon the recommendation of the Board of General Purposes of Grand Lodge and to the property and assets of any fund, institution, association, or organisation so approved and to the trustees of all such property and assets, in like manner as it applies to Grand Lodge and the property and assets of Grand Lodge and the trustees of Grand Lodge.
3 Certificate of approval
A certificate under the hand of the authorised representative for the time being or the acting authorised representative for the time being to the effect that a fund, institution, association, or organisation has been approved for the purposes of this Act shall be sufficient evidence that the fund, institution, association, or organisation named in the certificate is a Masonic fund, institution, association, or organisation to which this Act applies, and that it has been approved for the purposes of this Act in manner prescribed by this Act.
4 Private Act
This Act is declared to be a private Act.
