An Act to amend the Town Boards Act, 1908.
BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—
1 Short Title.
This Act may be cited as the Town Boards Amendment Act, 1908, and shall be read together with and form part of the Town Boards Act, 1908 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).
2 Repeal.
Sections fourteen, fifteen, and eighteen of the principal Act are hereby repealed.
3 Qualification of elector.
(1.)
The qualifications of an elector shall be those prescribed by the Municipal Corporations Act, 1908, for electors under that Act.
(2.)
Sections six to sixteen of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1908, shall, mutatis mutandis, apply to Town Boards.
4 Mode of election.
The members of the Board shall be elected by the electors of the district in the manner prescribed by the Local Elections and Polls Act, 1908, all the provisions of which Act shall apply.
5 Sections 16 and 17 of principal Act amended.
(1.)
Section sixteen of the principal Act is hereby amended by repealing the words “from the valuation roll of the district.”
(2.)
All references to ratepayers and the ratepayers roll in sections sixteen and seventeen of the principal Act shall hereafter be deemed to be references to electors and the electors roll.
