An Act to amend the Fisheries Act, 1908.
BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—
1 Short Title.
This Act may be cited as the Fisheries Amendment Act, 1908, and shall form part of and be read with the Fisheries Act, 1908 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).
2 Licenses to Maoris in Arawa District.
(1.)
The Governor may, on the recommendation of the Maori Council of the Arawa Maori District, issue licenses to fish for trout within the district proclaimed under the Thermal Springs Districts Act, 1908, at a rate not exceeding five shillings for the whole season.
(2.)
The number of licenses issued shall not exceed twenty in any one season.
(3.)
A license shall authorise the holder thereof to fish for trout for the use and consumption of himself and the members of his family, and for no other purpose whatsoever.
(4.)
If the holder of any such license is convicted of any breach of the principal Act or of this Act, he shall, in addition to any penalty which may be imposed under the principal Act, have his license cancelled, and shall not be entitled to a fresh license during the remainder of the season.
