An Act to amend the Designation of Districts Act, 1908.
BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—
1 Short Title.
This Act may be cited as the Designation of Districts Amendment Act, 1909, and it shall form part of and be read together with the Designation of Districts Act, 1908.
2 Governor may alter names of boroughs, counties, &c.
(1.)
The Governor in Council, from time to time, at the request or with the consent of the local authority of any borough, county, road district, or town district, to be signified to the Governor by resolution of the local authority passed at any ordinary meeting thereof, may by Proclamation alter the name of that borough, county, road district, or town district; and in all such alterations and future naming preference shall be given to the original Maori names.
Repeal.
(2.)
This section is in substitution for section three of the Designation of Districts Act, 1908, and that section is hereby accordingly repealed.
