An Act to amend the Police Offences Act, 1908.
BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—
1 Short Title.
This Act may be cited as the Police Offences Amendment Act, 1913, and shall form part of and be read together with the Police Offences Act, 1908 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).
2 Penalty for unlawful intimidation or violence with a view to restricting the freedom of any person to do or abstain from doing any act.
Every person who, with a view to compel any other person to abstain from doing or to do any act which such other person has a legal right to do or abstain from doing, wrongfully and without legal authority—
(a.)
Uses violence to or intimidates such other person or his wife or children, or injures or threatens to injure his property; or
(b.)
Follows such other person about from place to place; or
(c.)
Hides any tools, clothes, or other property owned or used by such other person, or deprives him of or hinders him in the use thereof; or
(d.)
Watches or besets the house or other place where such other person resides, or works, or carries on business, or happens to be, or the approach to such house or place; or
(e.)
Follows such other person with two or more other persons in a disorderly manner in or through any street or road,
is liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding twenty pounds, or to three months’ imprisonment.
3 Inciting to the commission of offences.
Any person who incites any other person to commit any offence punishable by imprisonment, whether on summary conviction or on indictment, shall be guilty of an offence punishable on summary conviction by a fine not exceeding twenty pounds, or by imprisonment for a term not exceeding three months, nor exceeding the maximum term of imprisonment to which a person who commits the first-mentioned offence is liable.
