An Act to amend the Registration of Aliens Act, 1917.
BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—
1 Short Title.
This Act may be cited as the Registration of Aliens Amendment Act, 1920, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Registration of Aliens Act, 1917 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).
2 Registration of aliens who become such by reason of marriage.
(1.)
Every woman who has since the passing of the principal Act become an alien by reason of her marriage to an alien shall, within twenty-eight days after the passing of this Act, make application for registration as an alien under the principal Act.
(2.)
Every woman who after the passing of this Act becomes an alien by reason of her marriage to an alien shall, within twenty-eight days thereafter, make application for registration as an alien under the principal Act.
3 Registration as aliens of persons whose naturalization has been revoked.
(1.)
Every person whose naturalization has been revoked under the Revocation of Naturalization Act, 1917, before the passing of this Act shall, within twenty-eight days after the passing of this Act, make application for registration as an alien under the principal Act.
(2.)
Every person whose naturalization is revoked after the passing of this Act shall, within twenty-eight days thereafter, make application for registration as an alien under the principal Act.
4 Registration as aliens of persons attaining the age of fifteen years.
(1.)
Every alien who has attained the age of fifteen years since the passing of the principal Act, or his guardian, shall, within twenty-eight days after the passing of this Act, make application for the registration of that alien as an alien under the principal Act.
(2.)
Every alien who attains the age of fifteen years after the passing of this Act, or his guardian, shall, within twenty-eight days thereafter, make application for the registration of that alien as an alien under the principal Act.
5 Penalty for failure to register as required by this Act.
Section nine of the principal Act shall apply to persons required to register as aliens pursuant to this Act.
6 Aliens to notify change of name.
(1.)
Every alien registered under the principal Act who changes his or her name, whether by marriage or otherwise, shall, within twenty-eight days thereafter, give notice of such change to a registration officer under the principal Act.
(2.)
Every alien as aforesaid who has, before the passing of this Act, changed his or her name, whether by marriage or otherwise, shall, within twenty-eight days after the passing of this Act, give notice of such change to a registration officer under the principal Act.
(3.)
Every person who fails to give such notice as herein required shall be liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding twenty pounds.
