An Act to amend the Government Railways Act 1949
BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
1 Short Title
This Act may be cited as the Government Railways Amendment Act 1961, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Government Railways Act 19491 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).
2 Nelson notional railway
The principal Act is hereby amended by inserting, after section 36, the following section:
“36A
There shall be paid out of the Consolidated Fund any subsidy appropriated by Parliament for the carriage by road between Nelson and Blenheim and intermediate points of any passengers or goods by a carrier on behalf of the Minister.”
3 Repeal
The Nelson Railway Authorisation Act 1960 is hereby repealed.
This Act is administered in the Government Railways Department.
