An Act to amend the Fire Services Act 1949

BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

1 Short Title

This Act may be cited as the Fire Services Amendment Act 1968, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Fire Services Act 1949 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).

2 Members of Urban Fire Authorities

Section 23 of the principal Act is hereby amended by repealing the proviso to subsection (2).

3 Grants on the retirement or death of employees of Urban Fire Authorities

Section 40a of the principal Act (as inserted by section 2(1) of the Fire Services Amendment Act 1957) is hereby amended by omitting from subsection (1) the words “and one or more other Urban Fire Authorities”, and substituting the words “and any other Urban Fire Authorities or the Fire Service Council, or one or more of any of them”.

This Act is administered in the Department of Internal Affairs.
