An Act to amend the Gaming and Lotteries Act 1977
BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
1 Short Title
This Act may be cited as the Gaming and Lotteries Amendment Act 1982, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Gaming and Lotteries Act 1977 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).
2 Unclaimed prizes
(1)
Section 84 of the principal Act is hereby amended by repealing subsection (1), and substituting the following subsection:
“(1)
If no person establishes his claim to any prize in any New Zealand lottery to the satisfaction of the organiser before the expiration of 6 months after the result of the drawing of the lottery is advertised, the organiser shall, at the expiration of that period, pay the amount of the prize into such account opened under section 105 of this Act as the Secretary directs; and thereafter that amount shall be dealt with as if it were part of the undistributed profits of lotteries.”
(2)
Section 92(3) of the principal Act is hereby amended by inserting, after the words “this section”
, the words “but subject to section 84 of this Act”
.
3 Prime Minister and Leader of Opposition may appoint deputies
Section 86 of the principal Act is hereby amended by repealing subsections (1) and (2), and substituting the following subsection:
“(1)
If the Prime Minister, or the Leader of the Official Opposition, is unable to attend any meeting of the Board, he may appoint any Member of Parliament to attend that meeting in his stead.”
This Act is administered in the Department of Internal Affairs.
