An Act to amend the Post Office Act 1959
BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
1 Short Title
This Act may be cited as the Post Office Amendment Act (No. 2) 1982, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Post Office Act 1959 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).
2 Rights of appeal of temporary officers
(1)
Section 192 of the principal Act is hereby amended by adding the following definition:
“‘Temporary officer’ means a person employed temporarily in the service of Her Majesty in the Post Office.”
(2)
Section 196 of the principal Act is hereby amended by inserting, after subsection (1), the following subsection:
“(1a)
Every temporary officer who has been employed by the Post Office for a continuous period of not less than 3 months shall have the right of appeal to the Appeal Board against his dismissal.”
