An Act to amend the Medical Research Council Act 1950
BE IT ENACTED by the Parliament of New Zealand as follows:
1 Short Title
This Act may be cited as the Medical Research Council Amendment Act 1987, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Medical Research Council Act 1950 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).
2 Meetings of Council
Section 6 of the principal Act is hereby amended by inserting, after subsection (4), the following subsection:
“(4a)
If the Director-General of Health intends to be absent from any meeting of the Council, the Director-General may appoint any officer of the Department of Health to attend the meeting in the Director-General’s stead. While any person is attending any meeting of the Council pursuant to this subsection, that person shall be deemed for all purposes to be a member of the Council. The fact that any person so attends shall be sufficient evidence of that person’s authority to do so.”
This Act is administered in the Department of Health.
