1 Short Title and commencement

• (1) This Act may be cited as the Transport (Vehicle and Driver Registration and Licensing) Amendment Act 1995, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Transport (Vehicle and Driver Registration and Licensing) Act 1986 (hereinafter referred to as the “principal Act”).

  (2) Sections 2, 8, and 9 of this Act shall come into force on the day on which this Act receives the Royal assent.

  (3) Except as provided in subsection (2) of this section, this Act shall come into force on a date to be appointed by the Governor-General by Order in Council; and one or more Orders in Council may be made bringing different provisions into force on different dates.

4 Applications for registration

• (1) These subsections amended section 7 of the principal Act.

  (2) These subsections amended section 7 of the principal Act.

  (3) Section 5 of the Transport (Vehicle and Driver Registration and Licensing) Amendment Act 1992 is hereby consequentially amended by repealing subsections (3) and (4).

  Sections 4 and 5 came into force as from 30 October 1995. See regulation 2 Transport (Vehicle and Driver Registration and Licensing) Amendment Act Commencement Order (No 3) 1995 (SR 1995/201).

5 Application for licence for motor vehicle

• (1) These subsections amended section 10 of the principal Act.

  (2) These subsections amended section 10 of the principal Act.

  (3) These subsections amended section 10 of the principal Act.

  (4) This subsection substituted regulation 3A Transport (Vehicle Registration and Licensing) Regulations 1994 (SR 1994/244).

  (5) The Transport (Vehicle Registration and Licensing) Regulations 1994 (as amended by subsection (4) of this section) may be amended as if the amendments effected by that subsection had been effected by regulation and not by this Act.

  (6) The Transport (Vehicle Registration and Licensing) Regulations 1994, Amendment No 1 (SR 1995/66) are hereby consequentially revoked.

6 Duration of licences

• (1) This section substituted s 11 of the principal Act.

  (2) Section 10 of the Transport (Vehicle and Driver Registration and Licensing) Amendment Act 1992 is hereby consequentially repealed.
