An Act to amend the Visiting Forces Act 1939

BE IT ENACTED by the Parliament of New Zealand as follows:

1 Short Title

This Act may be cited as the Visiting Forces Amendment Act 1997, and is part of the Visiting Forces Act 1939 (“the principal Act”).

2 Relations of visiting forces to the civil power and civilians

Section 4 of the principal Act is amended by repealing subsection (2).

3 Attachment of personnel and mutual powers of command

Section 6(2) of the principal Act is amended by omitting from paragraph (a) the words “its disposal”, and substituting the words “the disposal of the Chief of Defence Force”.

This Act is administered in the New Zealand Defence Force.
