(1) This Act is the Pork Industry Board Amendment Act 2001.

(2) In this Act, the Pork Industry Board Act 1997 is called “the principal Act”.

(1) Sections 3 and 4 come into force on 31 July 2002.

(2) The rest of this Act comes into force on the day after the date on which it receives the Royal assent.

(1) Section 13(2)(a) of the principal Act is amended by omitting the word “Five”, and substituting the expression “4”.

(2) Section 13(2)(b) of the principal Act is amended—

• (a) by omitting the expression “2”, and substituting the expression “1”:

• (b) by omitting the expression “4”, and substituting the expression “2”.

Clauses 5(3) and (6)(a) of Schedule 2 of the principal Act are amended by omitting the expression “5” in both cases where it occurs, and substituting in each case the expression “4”.

(1) The term of office for directors representing region 1 (as defined in the Pork Industry Board Regulations 1999) who are elected before 31 July 2002 expires at the close of that date if the term has not expired sooner.

(2) Subsection (1) applies whether a director is elected before or after the commencement of this section.
