The Parliament of New Zealand enacts as follows:

1 Title

(1)

This Act is the Building Amendment Act 2002.

(2)

In this Act, the Building Act 1991 is called “the principal Act”.

2 Commencement

This Act comes into force on the day after the date on which it receives the Royal assent.

3 Compliance schedules

Section 44(1)(c) of the principal Act is amended by adding, after the word “dangers”, the words (“other than a warning system for fire that is entirely within a household unit and serves only that unit”).
