The Parliament of New Zealand enacts as follows:
1 Title

(1) This Act is the Coroners Amendment Act 2004.
(2) In this Act, the Coroners Act 1988 is called
“the principal Act”
.This Act was repealed, as from 1 July 2007, pursuant to section 143 Coroners Act 2006 (2006 No 38). See section 144 of that Act for the transitional provisions.

3 Powers of coroners

Section 35 of the principal Act is amended by inserting, after subsection (1), the following subsection:
“(1A) Despite subsection (1), a coroner who is not a District Court Judge has, in relation to the exercise of jurisdiction under this Act, the same protection that a Justice or a Community Magistrate has under Part 7 of the Summary Proceedings Act 1957.”
This Act was repealed, as from 1 July 2007, pursuant to section 143 Coroners Act 2006 (2006 No 38). See section 144 of that Act for the transitional provisions.
