The Parliament of New Zealand enacts as follows:
1 Title
This Act is the Trade in Endangered Species Amendment Act 2007.
2 Commencement
This Act comes into force on the day after the date on which it receives the Royal assent.
3 Principal Act amended
This Act amends the Trade in Endangered Species Act 1989.
4 Seizure of endangered species traded in contravention of Act
-
(1) Section 39(1) is amended by omitting
“port or aerodrome,”
and substituting“port, aerodrome, transitional facility, or Customs controlled area,”
.(2) Section 39 is amended by adding the following subsection:

“(6) For the purposes of subsection (1),—
“Customs controlled area has the meaning given to it in section 2(1) of the Customs and Excise Act 1996
“transitional facility has the meaning given to it in section 2(1) of the Biosecurity Act 1993.”
