The Parliament of New Zealand enacts as follows:
1 Title
This Act is the Remuneration Authority Amendment Act 2016.
2 Commencement
This Act comes into force on 1 March 2017.
3 Principal Act
This Act amends the Remuneration Authority Act 1977 (the principal Act).
4 Section 2 amended (Interpretation)
In section 2, replace the definition of principal allowances with:
principal allowances—
(a)
means allowances (not being travelling allowances or other incidental or minor allowances); and
(b)
to avoid doubt, in relation to any of the following Judges who does not have his or her primary place of residence in Wellington may, if the Remuneration Authority thinks fit, include an amount by way of an allowance for accommodation while that person is in Wellington:
(i)
a Judge of the Supreme Court:
(ii)
a Judge of the Court of Appeal:
(iii)
the Chief High Court Judge
