Proposed amendments

Hon Amy Adams, in Committee, to move the following amendments:

Clause 6: new section 8(1A)

In clause 6, new section 8(1A)(a), after “rights” (page 4, line 38), insert “(the Disability Rights Commissioner)”.

In clause 6, new section 8(1A)(b), after “equity)” (page 5, line 1), insert “(the Equal Employment Opportunities Commissioner)”.

In clause 6, new section 8(1A)(c), after “relations” (page 5, line 2), insert “(the Race Relations Commissioner)”.

Explanatory note

This Supplementary Order Paper makes minor amendments to new section 8(1A) of the Human Rights Act 1993 as inserted by clause 6 of the Bill. The amendments give the designations of Disability Rights Commissioner, Equal Employment Opportunities Commissioner, and Race Relations Commissioner to the commissioners appointed to lead the work of the Human Rights Commission in the priority areas listed in new section 8(1A).
