Proposed amendment
Hone Harawira, in Committee, to move the following amendment:
New Part 2A
After clause 11 (after line 7 on page 35), insert:
Part 2A
Review of ages for sale and purchase of alcohol11A Committee to review ages for sale and purchase of alcohol
(1) The Ministry of Justice must, within 3 months of the commencement of this Act, establish a review committee.
(2) The function of the committee is to review the ages for sale and purchase of alcohol on licensed premises contained in Part 2.
(3) The committee must report to the Minister within 5 years of the commencement of this Act.
(4) The Minister must present the report of the committee to the House of Representatives within 5 years of the commencement of this Act.
11B Membership of review committee
The review committee must comprise, but is not limited to, representatives from—
(a) the Ministry of Justice:
(b) the Law Commission:
(c) the Alcohol Regulatory and Licensing Authority:
(d) tangata whenua.
Explanatory note
This Supplementary Order Paper amends the Alcohol Reform Bill by inserting provisions for the Ministry of Justice to review the ages for the sale and purchase of alcohol on licensed premises within 5 years of the commencement of the Bill.
