Explanatory note

This Supplementary Order Paper amends the Mixed Ownership Model Bill to recognise all 4 of the companies proposed to be partially privatised in this Bill explicitly in the Official Information Act 1982. The power companies subject to this Bill are core strategic assets and it is important the public is able to have access to information about them. With the transfer of these assets into a partially privatised model it becomes even more important that the public is able to monitor what they are doing. At present Solid Energy New Zealand Limited is subject specifically to the Official Information Act 1982 and the original version of clause 7 would remove that mention.
