Psychoactive Substances Bill
Proposed amendment
Brendan Horan, in Committee, to move the following amendment:
Clause 11
After clause 11(9) (after line 13 on page 18), insert:
(10) The advisory committee must provide the Minister with a written annual report of its operations.
Explanatory note
This Supplementary Order Paper would provide an open, transparent process so that New Zealanders will be able to be informed of the work of the Psychoactive Substances Expert Advisory Committee, and on progress in its area of responsibility. The Committee would be required to produce an annual report.
It is normal for advisory committees and similar bodies to be required by legislation to report. Examples in the health sector include the Health Quality and Safety Commission, the Advisory Committee on Assisted Reproductive Procedures and Human Reproductive Research, the National Advisory Committee on Health and Disability Support Services Ethics, and Mortality Review Committees.
