Social Housing Reform (Housing Restructuring and Tenancy Matters Amendment) Bill
Proposed amendment
Hon Annette King, in Committee, to move the following amendment:
Clause 17:
In clause 17(1), in the definition of community housing provider, after “(other than HNZ or the Corporation)”
(line 18 on page 39) insert “, including local councils,”
.
Explanatory note
This Supplementary Order Paper amends the Social Housing Reform (Housing Restructuring and Tenancy Matters Amendment) Bill to make clear community housing providers can include local councils. While the Bill as currently drafted does not clearly exclude local councils from being eligible to receive income-related rents there is concern that they are likely to be excluded. This amendment makes clear that they can be a community housing provider under the Bill.
