Proposed amendment
Gareth Hughes, in Committee, to move the following amendment:

After clause 12 (page 18, after line 3), insert:
12A Section 227A amended (Ministerial direction to institutions relating to compulsory student services fees)
(1) In section 227A(1)(c) replace
“or in consultation with the students enrolled at the institution, or their representatives”with“with the representatives of students enrolled at the institution”.(2) After section 227A(6), insert:
“(7) The council of an institution that is given a direction under subsection (1) or (4) must publish on the website of the institution a detailed breakdown of the use that is made of compulsory student services fees in providing student services.”
Explanatory note
This Supplementary Order Paper ensures that students get a fair say in how their money is spent. Students are required to pay a compulsory student services fee, and this Supplementary Order Paper enhances the representation and transparency of the body governing the expenditure of that student money.
