Education (Update) Amendment Bill
Proposed amendment
Tracey Martin, in Committee, to move the following amendment:
Clause 38
In clause 38, new section 35T(1), replace paragraphs (b) and (c) (page 24, lines 9 and 10) with:
(b)
a tertiary education provider that is a New Zealand University or polytechnic.
Explanatory note
This Supplementary Order Paper amends clause 38, new section 35T, in the Education (Update) Amendment Bill to ensure that only not-for-profit public education bodies are able to operate a community of online learning. The amendment would only allow registered schools and tertiary education providers that are New Zealand Universities or polytechnics to become communities of online learning.
It is important that all primary and secondary students are able to access high quality, free public education.
