Proposed amendment to SOP No 25
Simon O’Connor, in Committee, to move the following amendment:
Part 1, clause 4
In clause 4, paragraph (d), replace “.”
(page 28) with “:”
, and after paragraph (d), insert:
(e)
to help achieve the best possible outcome for people at risk of long-term welfare dependency (as that risk is defined in Schedule 2), MSD may identify appropriate assistance, support, and services, under this Act, for those people.
Explanatory note
This Supplementary Order Paper amends SOP No 25 amending the Social Security Legislation Rewrite Bill. It restores clause 4(e), and will give Ministry of Social Development front-line staff the flexibility to utilise appropriate assistance, support, and services to meet the needs of people at risk of long-term welfare dependency, through using the principles of social investment.
