Proposed amendment
Denise Lee, in Committee, to move the following amendment:
Clause 5
In clause 5 after section 55C(c) (page 3, line 6), insert:
(d)
not be given within 12 months since the last general election.
Explanatory note
This Supplementary Order Paper amends clause 5 of the Electoral (Integrity) Amendment Bill to protect voter confidence in Parliament, political parties, and elections by ensuring that the removal of an MP from a parliamentary political party could not occur within 12 months since the last general election.
