Education (Teaching Council of Aotearoa) Amendment Bill
Proposed amendment
Simeon Brown, in Committee, to move the following amendment:
New clause 5AA
After clause 5 (page 5, after line 2), insert:
5AA Section 385 amended (Reports)
In section 385, replace subsection (2) with:
(2)
The Teaching Council must present to the House of Representatives an annual report on its operations, including, but not limited to,—
(a)
the audited financial statements of the Teaching Council; and
(b)
a summary from each elected member of the Teaching Council outlining the impact of the Teaching Council’s operations on the group from which that respective member was elected.
Explanatory note
This Supplementary Order Paper amends the Education (Teaching Council of Aotearoa) Amendment Bill. It will ensure that elected members have the ability to report on how the operations of the Teaching Council have impacted on the groups from which they were elected to represent, and that these reports will be included in the annual report presented by the Teaching Council to Parliament.
