Education (Teaching Council of Aotearoa) Amendment Bill
Proposed amendment
Hon Nikki Kaye, in Committee, to move the following amendment:
Clause 5A
In clause 5A, replace new section 388(1)(aaa) (page 5, lines 5 and 6) with:
(aaa)
the conduct of elections for electing members to the Teaching Council, including—
(i)
the election process; and
(ii)
processes regarding public disclosure of any union membership by those nominated for election to the Teaching Council; and
Explanatory note
This Supplementary Order Paper amends the Education (Teaching Council of Aotearoa) Amendment Bill. It will ensure that in the process of creating rules providing for the nomination and election of members, the Teaching Council will create a process where those nominated for election will publicly disclose any relevant union membership.
