This order is made under section 31(1)(a)(ii) of the New Zealand Horticulture Export Authority Act 1987—

(a)

on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council; and

(b)

on the recommendation of the Minister of Agriculture made in accordance with section 32(3) of that Act.

Order

1 Title

This order is the Horticultural Prescribed Products (Avocados) Amendment Order 2026.

2 Commencement

This order comes into force on 26 March 2026.

3 Principal order

This order amends the Horticultural Prescribed Products (Avocados) Order 1989.

4 Clause 5 replaced (Recognised product group)

Replace clause 5 with:

5 Recognised product group

N.Z. Avocado Growers Association Incorporated is the product group recognised under section 25 of the Act as suitable to carry out the functions of a recognised product group in relation to avocados.

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the order but is intended to indicate its general effect.

This order, which comes into force on 26 March 2026, amends the Horticultural Prescribed Products (Avocados) Order 1989 by substituting N.Z. Avocado Growers Association Incorporated as the recognised product group for avocados under the New Zealand Horticulture Export Authority Act 1987. This amendment follows an industry restructure to merge the previous recognised product group, NZ Avocado Industry Limited, with N.Z. Avocado Growers Association Incorporated.
