An Act to amend the Transport Act 1962
BE IT ENACTED by the Parliament of New Zealand as follows:
1 Short Title and commencement

(1) This Act may be cited as the Transport Amendment Act 1995, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Transport Act 1962 (hereinafter referred to as the
“principal Act”
).(2) This Act shall come into force on the day on which it receives the Royal assent.

12 Abolition of Road Traffic Safety Research Council

(1) The Road Traffic Safety Research Council continued by section 91 of the principal Act is hereby abolished.
(2) Part 7 of the principal Act (comprising sections 91 to 94 of the principal Act) (as inserted by section 3 of the Ministry of Transport Act Repeal Act 1990) is hereby repealed.

14 Transitional provisions

(1) The obligations of the Road Safety Research Council that had effect immediately before the date of commencement of this Act are hereby vested in the Authority, and the Authority shall have such functions and powers as are necessary to discharge those obligations.
(2) All money held in the name of or to the benefit of the said Council is hereby transferred to the Authority, and the Authority shall have all the powers of the Council in respect of that money.
(3) The Authority shall use all the money transferred to it under subsection (2) of this section for the purposes of road-traffic safety research and in accordance with any directions of the said Council in relation to the use of that money.
