Pursuant to section 4 of the Heavy Engineering Research Levy Act 1978, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting on the advice and with the consent of the Executive Council, makes the following order.

1 Title

  • This order is the Heavy Engineering Research Levy Act Amendment Order 2006.

2 Commencement

  • This order comes into force on 1 January 2007.

3 Principal Act amended
4 Schedule 2 amended

  • Schedule 2 is amended by—

    • (a) omitting Tariff item 7210.69.10 and substituting Tariff item 7210.69.10 set out in Schedule 1 of this Order under the heading 72.10 (Flat-rolled products of iron or non-alloy steel, of a width of 600 mm or more, clad, plated or coated); and

    • (b) omitting Tariff items 7225.40.00 to 7225.99.90 and substituting Tariff items 7225.40.19 to 7225.99.90 set out in Schedule 1 of this Order under the heading 72.25 (Flat-rolled products of other alloy steel, of a width of 600 mm or more); and

    • (c) omitting Tariff items 7226.93.10 to 7226.99.18 and substituting Tariff items 7226.99.01 and 7226.99.18 set out in Schedule 1 of this Order under the heading 72.26 (Flat-rolled products of other alloy steel, of a width of less than 600 mm); and

    • (d) omitting Tariff item 7306.60.00 and substituting Tariff item 7306.61.00 set out in Schedule 1 of this Order under the heading 73.06 (Other tubes, pipes and hollow profiles (for example, open seam or welded, riveted or similarly closed), of iron or steel).

5 Schedule 3 amended

  • Schedule 3 is amended by—

    • (a) omitting Tariff item 7229.90.00 and substituting Tariff item 7229.90.00 set out in Schedule 2 of this Order under the heading 72.29 (Wire of other alloy steel):

    • (b) omitting Tariff items 7407.22.01 and 7407.29.01 and substituting Tariff item 7407.29.01 set out in Schedule 2 of this Order under the heading 74.07 (Copper bars, rods and profiles).

Explanatory note

This note is not part of the order, but is intended to indicate its general effect.

This order, which comes into force on 1 January 2007, makes changes to Schedules 2 and 3 of the Heavy Engineering Research Levy Act 1978 to reflect changes made to the tariff that come into force on the same day.
