The Parliament of New Zealand enacts as follows:
1 Title
-
(1) This Act is the New Zealand Horticulture Export Authority Amendment Act 2002.
(2) In this Act, the New Zealand Horticulture Export Authority Act 1987 is called
“the principal Act”
.
2 Commencement
This Act comes into force on the day after the date on which it receives the Royal assent.
3 Interpretation
-
(1) Section 2 of the principal Act is amended by repealing the definition of the term Ministers, and substituting the following definition:
“Minister means the Minister of the Crown who, under the authority of any warrant or with the authority of the Prime Minister, is for the time being responsible for the administration of this Act.”
4 Authority to implement general policy of Government
-
(1) Section 9(1) of the principal Act is amended by omitting the word
“Ministers”
, and substituting the word“Minister”
.(2) Section 9 of the principal Act is amended by inserting, after subsection (1), the following subsection:
(1A) However, the Authority must give effect to the policy of Government in relation to international trade matters as communicated to it by notice in writing by the Minister of the Crown who (under the authority of any warrant or with the authority of the Prime Minister) is in charge of international trade.
5 Consequential amendments
The principal Act is amended in the manner indicated in the Schedule.
