An Act to amend the Education Act 1989 by acknowledging the role of Te Aho Matua in Kura Kaupapa Maori
BE IT ENACTED by the Parliament of New Zealand as follows.
1 Short Title and commencement
(1)
This Act may be cited as the Education (Te Aho Matua) Amendment Act 1999, and is part of the Education Act 1989 (“the principal Act”
).
(2)
This Act comes into force on the day after the date on which it receives the Royal assent.
2 Kura Kaupapa Maori
This section substituted section 155 of the principal Act.
3 New sections inserted
This section inserted ss 155A to 155F of the principal Act.
4 Restrictions on mergers in certain cases
This section substituted section 156B of the principal Act.
