Social Security Amendment Act (No 2) 1990: repealed, on 26 November 2018, pursuant to section 455(1) of the Social Security Act 2018 (2018 No 32).

An Act to amend the Social Security Act 1964
BE IT ENACTED by the Parliament of New Zealand as follows:
1 Short Title and commencement
This Act may be cited as the Social Security Amendment Act (No 2) 1990, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Social Security Act 1964 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).
2 Interpretation
(1)
This subsection substituted the definitions of benefit and dependent child, and inserted the definitions of principal caregiver and sole parent in section 3(1) of the principal Act.
(2)
The following enactments are hereby consequentially repealed:
(a)
Section 2(1) and (2) of the Social Security Amendment Act 1986:
(b)
Section 14(1) of the Social Welfare (Transitional Provisions) Act 1990
3 Exercise of powers, etc., by Director-General
(1)
This subsection amended section 5(1) of the principal Act.
(2)
[Repealed]Subsection (2) was repealed, as from 1 April 1991, by section 3(2) Social Security Amendment Act 1991 (1991 No 1).

(2)
The following enactments are hereby consequentially repealed:
(a)
Section 7 of the Social Security Amendment Act 1986:

Section 11 of the Social Security Amendment Act (No 2) 1988:

Section 2 of the Social Security Amendment Act 1989:
(d)
This paragraph repealed s 37(3) Social Welfare (Transitional Provisions) Act 1990.
(3)
Where an orphan’s benefit was payable in respect of a child immediately before the commencement of this section, a review under section 81 of the principal Act shall take place, between the 1st day of October 1990 and the 1st day of January 1991, to determine whether the principal caregiver in respect of the child is eligible to receive an orphan’s benefit or an unsupported child’s benefit.
(4)
Notwithstanding anything in section 28 of the principal Act (as substituted by subsection (1) of this section), where an orphan’s benefit was payable in respect of a child immediately before the commencement of this section, the principal caregiver in respect of the child, at the Director-General’s discretion, shall be entitled to continue to receive an orphan’s benefit until the review referred to in subsection (3) of this section has taken place.
(5)
This section shall come into force on the 1st day of October 1990.

14 Unemployment benefits
(1)
This subsection amended section 58(1) of the principal Act.
(2)
Nothing in subsection (1) of this section shall affect the entitlement of a person receiving an unemployment benefit immediately before the commencement of this section to continue to receive that benefit.
(3)
This section shall come into force on the 1st day of December 1990.
