An Act to amend the Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters Act 1992
BE IT ENACTED by the Parliament of New Zealand as follows:
1 Short Title and commencement

(1) This Act may be cited as the Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters Amendment Act 1998, and is part of the Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters Act 1992 (
“the principal Act”
).(2) This Act comes into force on a date to be appointed by the Governor-General by Order in Council.
2 Interpretation
This section inserted the definition of the term Convention country in s 2(1) of the principal Act.
3 New sections substituted
4 Ad hoc requests for assistance
This section inserted s 25A of the principal Act.
7 Regulations
This section substituted s 65(1)(a) of the principal Act.
8 New schedules added
The principal Act is amended by adding the schedules set out in Schedule 1.
9 Consequential amendments
The principal Act is consequentially amended in the manner indicated in Schedule 2.
