The Parliament of New Zealand enacts as follows:
1 Title
-
(1) This Act is the Biosecurity Amendment Act 2004.
(2) In this Act, the Biosecurity Act 1993 is called
“the principal Act”
.
2 Commencement
This Act comes into force on 1 January 2005.
3 Duty to provide information
-
(1) Section 43(1)(a) of the principal Act is amended by omitting the words
“or unwanted organisms”
where they first occur, and substituting the words“unwanted organisms, or risk goods”
.(2) Section 43(2)(b) of the principal Act is amended by omitting the words
“or organic material”
, and substituting the words“, organic material, or risk goods”
.
4 Regulations
-
(1) Section 165(1)(f) of the principal Act is amended by omitting the word
“premises”
, and substituting the word“places”
.(2) Section 165(1)(g) of the principal Act is amended by—
(a) omitting the word
“premises”
where it first occurs, and substituting the word“places”
; and
(b) omitting the words
“, and prescribing technical standards for the construction, equipping, maintenance, and operation of such premises”
.
(3) Section 165(1) of the principal Act is amended by inserting, after paragraph (g), the following paragraph:
“(ga) prescribing technical standards for the construction, equipping, maintenance, and operation of places referred to in paragraph (g) whether required to be registered or not:”
(4) Section 165(1)(h) of the principal Act is amended by omitting the word
“premises”
, and substituting the word“places”
.(5) Section 165(1)(t) of the principal Act is amended by adding the words
“or any other chief executive”
.
