An Act to amend the Marriage Act 1955
BE IT ENACTED by the General Assembly of New Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
1 Short Title
This Act may be cited as the Marriage Amendment Act 1982, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the Marriage Act 1955 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Act).
2 Appointment of Registrars and Deputy Registrars

(4) Section 2 of the Marriage Amendment Act 1959 is hereby consequentially repealed.
(5) Every person who was, immediately before the commencement of this Act, an Acting Registrar appointed under the principal Act shall, on that commencement, be deemed to have been appointed a Registrar under the principal Act.
Subsection (2) was repealed, as from 1 September 1995, by section 96 Births, Deaths, and Marriages Registration Act 1995 (1995 No 16).
