An Act to amend the Sale of Liquor Act 1989
BE IT ENACTED by the Parliament of New Zealand as follows:
1 Short Title and commencement

(1) This Act may be cited as the Sale of Liquor Amendment Act 1997, and is part of the Sale of Liquor Act 1989 (
“the principal Act”
).(2) This Act comes into force on the day on which it receives the Royal assent.
2 Conditions of on-licences

Section 2 was repealed, as from 1 April 2000, by section 118 Sale of Liquor Amendment Act 1999 (1999 No 92).
3 Certain on-licences to be treated as permitting sale or supply of liquor during early hours of Sunday morning
Every on-licence granted before the commencement of this Act in respect of a hotel or tavern that contains a condition or statement that appears or is intended to permit the sale or supply of liquor during the period from midnight on a Saturday to 3 am on a Sunday or during a part of that period must be treated as permitting and as having always permitted the sale or supply of liquor during that period or during that part of that period, as the case may be.
